SPV GmbH is an independent German record label founded in 1984 as a German distributor of Roadrunner Records. It has slowly grown to be one of the largest independent distributors and record labels worldwide.
It also has several sublabels that it produces and distributes. These include metal labels Steamhammer, Synthetic Symphony, Oblivion, SPV Recordings/SPV America, Audiopharm, and progressive label InsideOut.
SPV's most successful artists include Sepultura, Kreator, Angra, Alice Cooper, Eric Burdon, Whitesnake, Motörhead, Helloween, Kamelot, King's X, Judas Priest, Dio, Iced Earth, Monster Magnet and Type O Negative.
