Born in Switzerland and raised in Germany, Jo Bartmes went to New York in 1991 to study jazz and composition with the likes of Kenny Werner, Maria Schneider, Jimmy Heath, and others. Back in Germany eight years later, he plays with numerous renowned musicians, such as Kalle Kalima, Jon Sass, Underkarl, DePhazz, Söhne Mannheims and many more. Since 2011, Bartmes runs his own label “blisstone”.
